The Cadbury's Man in Black television commercials for Milk Tray began in 1967 and ended in 2000. The Man in Black character became synonymous with the famous Cadbury product.

The name 'Tray' is derived from the method of delivery of the original chocolate assortments to the shops. Milk Tray was originally packed in five and a half pound boxes, arranged on trays. It was from these trays that the chocolates were then sold on loose to customers.

The commercial featured on this page is know as the 'Cliff Dive' and is from the 1970s. The music for the commercial is entitled The Night Rider and was composed by Cliff Addams and was filmed on location at The Blue Grotto in Malta. The actor is Gary Myers; the very first actor to play The Man in Black. Gary made 11 commercials in this role from 1968 to 1984. The actual cliff dive is performed by veteran stunt man Alf Joint. The advertising agency is Publicis Ltd
