Sam
Kydd (1915 - 1982), stars as Orlando
O'Connor in this 'spin-off' series from
Crane. Sam Kydd made many film and television appearances in his
long career spanning five decades and appeared in more than 138 feature films.
He made literally thousands of television appearances; 'Soap' fans will probably
remember Sam in Coronation Street as Mike Baldwin's father; he also
appeared in Crossroads.
Orlando has left Morocco and his
time with Crane and has returned to England where he buys a run-down boatyard.
Unfortunately the business does not thrive, and Orlando moves to London's
Docklands area. A proposed reunion with an erstwhile Naval friend ends in disappointment
when Orlando learns that his friend has been killed, and he sets about
trying to discover what has happened.
Orlando then meets and befriends
two teenagers - Steve and Jenny Morgan, whom following the death
of their uncle have inherited a detective agency. The youngsters help Orlando
in his quest to investigate his friend's death. David
Munro plays Steve Morgan and Judy Robinson is Jenny Morgan.
The
series is set in and around the Docklands area of London, an area which in the
mid 1960's (when the series was made) was not developed to any great degree. The
series ran for three years, and for Orlando, Steve and Jenny...their
adventures were just beginning!
Only
four episodes are believed to remain of Orlando: Skin Deep (4/10/66)
Rhyme but no Reason (11/10/66) Victory in Sight (18/10/66) &
Clue to a Clue (27/9/66). These remaining episodes are held on 16mm master
preservation copies at the British Film Institute.
